This year’s Lowcountry Brunch & Tour will be held at the gracious home of Bill and Carolina Hatcher, Frogmore Manor, ca. 1810 and Plantation on St. Helena Island. The property was originally owned by Lt. Governor William Bull, who willed it to his son in 1750. Once boasting over 3000 acres, the property today includes some 76 acres. The manor house, barn and windmill/water tower provide an important example of early architectural development on St. Helena during the period of 1790 to 1920. Built ca.1810, the barn is a significant example of early tabby construction. In 1867-68 the property was purchased by Laura Towne and Ellen Murray, Northern missionaries and teachers who arrived on St. Helena Island in 1862 and founded Penn School, one the nation’s first schools for formerly enslaved persons and the first to be established in the southern United States. Following their deaths in the early 1900s, the property was purchased by James Ross Macdonald and remains in the family to today.
Dr. Larry Rowland will be joining us mid-day (11am – 12pm) to discuss the early history of St. Helena.
Note that Sunday tickets will be offered by shift: 9AM to 11AM and 12PM to 2PM. Please indicate the shift timeframe you would prefer in the notes section of the order form or call the HBF office at 843.379.3331. We will do our best to accommodate your preference.

TICKET PURCHASER WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Purchaser agrees to the following:
PURCHASER agrees to abide by all State and local laws and ordinances and further agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Historic Beaufort Foundation, Inc. (hereinafter “HBF”) its agents, employees, board members, directors, staff, volunteers, property owners, docents and chaperones from any and all liability whatsoever for any personal injury, death or property damage purchase may incur as a result of attendance at an HBF event.
It is further understood that many HBF events occur at historic properties where current building code requirements may not be met and there are often unique and sometimes dangerous access points or other such conditions on the property. PURCHASER fully understands the risk of injury and danger associated with attending any HBF event and freely and voluntarily waives any liability claims against HBF, its agents, employees, board members, directors, staff, volunteers, property owners, docents and chaperones arising out of such conditions. Further, large crowds may be present at this event, and HBF its agents, employees, board members, directors, staff, volunteers, property owners, docents and chaperones are not responsible for any injuries incurred by the PURCHASER of his/her guests that occur at the event or for any lost or stolen items or any damages of whatever kind PURCHASER incurs at this event.
The PURCHASER hereby expressly releases HBF, its agents, employees, board members, directors, staff, volunteers, property owners, docents, and chaperones from any and all liability whatsoever for any personal injury, death or property damage resulting from PURCHASER activities in connection with said event.
By purchasing tickets, the PURCHASER expressly waives any rights she/he may have to initiate any action whatsoever on behalf of him/herself against HBF its agents, employees, board members, directors, staff, volunteers, property owners, docents and chaperones for recovery of damages to person(s) or property resulting from the activity referenced herein.
